President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued several congratulatory messages to prominent Nigerian figures on their birthdays. On October 3, the President honored retired General Alani Ipoola Akinrinade on his 87th birthday, describing him as a “principled patriot” and a “hero of the Fourth Republic” for his military service and his role in the struggle to restore democracy via the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO). The President further characterized him as a voice of wisdom and moderation. On October 15, President Tinubu congratulated Senator Basheer Lado, the Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters, on his 60th birthday. The President commended Lado’s career as an accomplished legislator and his humanitarian efforts through the Ladon Alheri Foundation, noting his contributions to fostering relations between the Executive and the Senate. On October 21, the President issued a message to former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for his 70th birthday. Tinubu emphasized that their personal relationship, which spans over three decades and includes their collaboration in forming the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2013, will endure despite current political differences and the prospect of competing in the January 2027 election. He described Kwankwaso as an “influential and progressive politician.” On October 25, the President issued a tribute to veteran journalist and editor Oyinlade ‘Ladbone’ Bonuola on his 80th birthday. Tinubu praised Bonuola as a “craftsman par excellence,” noting his significant impact on the media industry through his leadership roles at The Guardian Newspaper, Comet, and the Nigerian Compass.
