The Colosseo-Fori Imperiali station on Rome’s Metro C line, inaugurated in December 2025, was nominated for the Prix Versailles 2026 in the ‘Passenger Stations’ category. Described as a ‘station-museum’ spanning four underground levels, the project was designed to integrate modern transit with ancient historical heritage. By late September 2026, the station was named among the global finalists for the ‘World’s Most Beautiful Stations’ category. The Prix Versailles evaluates projects based on architectural excellence, innovation, cultural integration, and sustainability. The station is noted for its integration of archaeological discoveries found during its development, which are displayed within the facility. In early October 2026, the Prix Versailles announced its selection of seven railway terminals as finalists, representing various continents including Australia, France, Italy, and Saudi Arabia. The Colosseo-Fori Imperiali station remains part of this international group of recognized projects. The award ceremony is scheduled for December 10 at the UNESCO headquarters, where the final winners will be named. Three of the selected stations will receive additional world titles for Interior or Exterior design.
