At the San Sebastián International Film Festival, Atresmedia presented ‘Sira’, a new series serving as a sequel to the acclaimed ‘El tiempo entre costuras’. Developed by Buendía Estudios, the production stars Adriana Ugarte, who reprises her role as Sira Quiroga, a character evolving from a seamstress into an autonomous professional working as a journalist and spy. Set in the post-World War II era, the narrative follows Sira across various locations, including Jerusalem, London, Tangier, and Madrid. The plot involves her infiltrating as a journalist during Eva Perón’s tour of Spain. The series was filmed in over 65 natural locations throughout Vizcaya, Morocco, and Madrid. The cast includes returning actors Rubén Cortada and Peter Vives, alongside new additions Cecilia Suárez and Jeremy Neumark Jones. Creative executive producer María Dueñas noted that the decision to expand the story was inspired by a return to Tangier. Arriving thirteen years after the original production, the sequel follows the protagonist as she navigates new personal and professional challenges. Regarding her return to the role, Ugarte noted that she aimed to ‘create something new rather than simply replicating the original character’, reflecting on how her own life experiences have influenced her approach. She also expressed that the transition back into the character felt natural once she began utilizing the specific costume and makeup. The series is scheduled to premiere on Atresplayer, with a subsequent broadcast on Antena 3.
