Lionsgate is developing ‘The Housemaid’s Secret’, a sequel to the 2025 psychological thriller ‘The Housemaid’. The film is based on the second book in Freida McFadden’s trilogy and features returning director Paul Feig and lead actress Sydney Sweeney, who will also serve as an executive producer. Casting announcements have identified several ensemble members. Brittany Snow Stephen Kalyn, known for the Prime Video series ‘Off Campus’, has joined the cast to play Marybeth, a receptionist involved in the film’s mystery. The first film in the franchise was a significant commercial success, earning over between $350 million and $400 million globally against a $35 million budget. Production is expected to begin in 2026, with a worldwide theatrical release scheduled for 17 December 2027.
