In August 2026, ProSieben announced a major reshuffle of its primetime music-competition lineup to combat declining viewership. “The Voice of Germany” will move from its long-standing Thursday slot to Saturday nights, with the new season debuting on 12 September. While the coaching panel—consisting of Shirin David, Rea Garvey, Nico Santos, Michi Beck, and Smudo—remains unchanged, hosts Melissa Khalaj and Matthias Killing will lead the programme as former host Thore Schölermann departs. The network is also dropping ancillary formats such as “The Voice Stories” and “The Voice: Comeback Stage,” opting instead for repeats of other shows following the main broadcast. Simultaneously, “The Masked Singer” will move from Saturdays to Wednesdays at 20:15 starting 16 September. This shift follows a significant ratings slump; after launching in 2019 with a 38.5% share among 14-to-49-year-olds, viewership fell to approximately 9–12% in recent seasons. The 13th season of “The Masked Singer” will introduce several format changes, including a move to a pre-recorded production style and a record 16 masked celebrities. The competition structure will be modified so that in each of the first four episodes, four contestants compete, resulting in two identity reveals and two advancing to the semifinals. Host Matthias Opdenhövel will return alongside judges Chris Tall and Verona Pooth, who will be joined by weekly guest judges. The comedy series “Schäm dich, Reich!” will occupy the 23:20 slot following the show. Show director Hannes Hiller noted that the move to a pre-recorded format in Cologne aligns the production with international standards in the US and UK, intended to simplify the recruitment of high-profile celebrities whose schedules may not allow for the previous six-week live commitment. The new season is scheduled to run through 21 October 2026, with episodes airing on ProSieben and streaming on Joyn.
