Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda has committed to preserving the land occupied by the Centro Estatal de las Artes (CEART) in Ensenada for cultural use. This follows requests from the local artistic community to prevent the site from being repurposed for justice system infrastructure. To maintain this commitment, the Governor ordered weekly meetings between state officials and representatives of the artistic sector. Subsequent developments include an agreement to protect the area known as ‘Manzana 8’. To ensure long-term legal and operational certainty, the government plans to integrate the project into the municipality’s Urban Charter (Carta Urbana), which aims to prevent the transfer of these spaces to other government agencies. The state government has since reached an agreement with the local artistic community to protect the Ensenada State Center for the Arts (CEARTE) property, ensuring its use remains dedicated to cultural development through urban planning protections.
