Further research from the Global Network on Extremism and Technology (GNET) has linked the consumption of AI-generated ‘slop’—mass-produced, low-quality content—to cognitive decline and violent tendencies in children. This content, often appearing as absurd AI-animated videos, can covertly propagate extremist narratives or aggressive themes. This phenomenon, sometimes referred to as ‘brain rot,’ is driven by the accessibility of inexpensive AI tools that allow creators to flood platforms with overstimulating media designed to exploit dopamine-seeking behaviors.
