A community-led project by developer LoreanXavier has transitioned from development to a full release of a native PC version of the horror teaser P.T. Initially reported as being 97% complete, the project aimed to reconstruct the original logic and visual systems of the 2014 PlayStation 4 demo using C++ and Vulkan rather than an emulator. The final release, version 1.0.1, features a complete rewrite of the game logic and a custom renderer. Technical enhancements in the released version include Ray Tracing for shadows, ambient occlusion, and reflections, alongside support for upscaling technologies like DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS. The port also introduces VR compatibility via OpenXR, a photo mode, a free camera, and an experimental third-person mode. To respect copyright, the software does not include Konami’s protected data; users are required to provide their own files extracted from a PlayStation 4 to run the application. The project gained significant attention after Hideo Kojima shared the work on social media. While Kojima’s recognition serves as a major personal milestone for the developer, it does not constitute an official re-release by Konami or Kojima Productions.
