The municipality of Campo Grande has launched the ‘Eugênio Oliveira Martins de Barros’ Public Health School. Operating under the Municipal Health Secretariat (Sesau), the institution is designed to connect the public health network with universities, researchers, and students. To support this launch, the COAPES (Organizational Contract for Public Teaching-Health Action) was signed to integrate various institutions for the purpose of enhancing internships, residencies, research, and professional training. The school intends to focus on permanent education, applied research, innovation, and management development to train approximately 8,000 workers within the municipal health system. In connection with these educational efforts, Campo Grande has demonstrated leadership in medical residencies. According to the 2026/2027 National Residency Exam (ENARE) vacancy map, the city offers 93 vacancies across Family and Community Medicine, Family Health, Psychiatry, and Mental Health. This placement ranks the city first in Mato Grosso do Sul and maintains high national positions in several categories.
