Public safety and crime incidents in South America

Overview

Reports of public safety incidents and crimes have emerged in Paraguay and Peru, as well as Argentina.

In October, a woman in Encarnación, Paraguay, sustained serious injuries following a dog attack while traveling by motorcycle. Concurrently, in Miraflores, Peru, security footage captured a man on a scooter harassing a female athlete during her morning exercise.

Later that same month, reports surfaced of a fire in El Agustino, Peru, which destroyed two mototaxis and a food stall; local police suggested the incident might be linked to a private dispute. In Juan Bautista Alberdi, Argentina, a 15-year-old girl was physically assaulted near a plaza, an incident captured on video that has led to a formal police complaint.
