In Balneário Camboriú, a woman was threatened by an intoxicated man experiencing homelessness on Avenida Central. The man reportedly used offensive language and threatened to ‘break her entirely’. Physical aggression was reportedly prevented by the intervention of local taxi drivers. Following the incident, City Councilor Guilherme Cardoso criticized the response from local services. He expressed disagreement with a staff member from the Resgate à Vida BC service who referred to the aggressor as a ‘patient’, arguing that the individual should be treated as a criminal instead. In response to the situation, the Municipal Guard launched ‘Operação GM 50’, an initiative aimed at increasing preventive policing in key areas of the city.
