The government of Puebla has announced the second edition of the Catrineras Festival, ~~which is~~ scheduled to run from October 9 to November 2, 2026, at the Ex Hacienda de Chautla in San Salvador El Verde. ~~The~~ Part of the ‘Festivals for Peace’ circuit, the event is designed to preserve Day of the Dead traditions and stimulate regional tourism. Officials project the festival will attract 150,000 visitors and generate an estimated economic impact of 70 million pesos. This follows a 2025 edition that saw 142,397 visitors and 60 million pesos in revenue. Notably, the Ex Hacienda saw a 126 percent rise in attendance in 2025 compared to the previous year. The festival will feature competitions for offerings, calaveritas, and catrinas, with prizes between 10,000 and 25,000 pesos. Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier highlighted the importance of promoting the state’s cultural wealth, while the Secretary of Tourism noted an expectation of over 900,000 visitors during the All Saints season. The event is also expected to benefit local artisans, producers, and merchants in surrounding municipalities, including San Matías Tlalancaleca and Santa Rita Tlahuapan.
