Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier has introduced several development programs in Puebla focused on flood prevention and agricultural support. To mitigate risks following severe flooding in the Pantepec River region, the state government is coordinating with the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) to implement infrastructure projects. These measures include constructing safety embankments, installing gabion walls, and reinforcing bridges to protect communities and prevent isolation during emergencies. Simultaneously, the administration is expanding agricultural capacity through programs such as the Fortalecimiento al Campo Poblano. In the Ciudad Serdán microregion, an investment of approximately 4.092 million pesos has facilitated the distribution of machinery, technology, and inputs to local producers. This includes equipment such as tractors, seeders, harvesters, and drones. Recent efforts under the Strategic Inputs for Production and the Puebla Field Security programs have distributed over 600 supports. This has expanded the state’s agricultural fleet from zero to over 1,800 units, with a target of reaching 2,500 units next year. These initiatives have helped increase cultivated land from 50,000 hectares last year to 200,000 hectares this year, with a projected goal of 400,000 hectares in the upcoming cycle to combat food poverty and generate rural employment. Governor Armenta emphasized that agricultural development is essential for improving the quality of life and income for rural families, aligning with the vision of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to promote productive sectors.
