The Puerto Quequén Management Consortium has implemented the ‘Puerto Ciudad: Experiencias que dejan huellas’ program to strengthen ties between the maritime station and the local community. Initial efforts focused on promoting regional identity through literature. The program presented two new works at the Necochea Cultural Center: a comic book regarding the historical figure Mariano Necochea and a collection of poetic prose by Mariel Farías designed to serve as a pedagogical tool for teaching local geography and culture. Following these cultural presentations, the program expanded into broader community outreach activities across Necochea, Quequén, La Dulce, and Juan N. Fernández. These activities included health checks for hundreds of children, substance abuse prevention workshops, biodiversity studies, the creation of an ‘Inclusion Mural’, and reforestation efforts involving students and families. Recent activities conducted between September 15 and 18, 2026, included health screenings for over 400 children and adolescents in locations such as La Dulce, Juan N. Fernández, and the Necochea Football League. The program also continued initiatives in education, environmental conservation through tree planting, and inclusive art projects, such as the ‘Mural de la Inclusión’ at Escollera Sur. Despite recent rumors regarding potential leadership changes within the Consortium, Mariano Carrillo remains at the helm, and the organization reports no formal changes to its management. The port continues to support professional training, sports development, and local infrastructure projects as part of its territorial integration strategy.
