The Quinnipiac University women’s ice hockey team is set to begin its 2026-27 regular season with a two-game series against the University of Maine at the Harold Alfond Sports Arena in Orono, Maine. Ranked No. 6, Quinnipiac enters the season as the preseason ECAC favorite and returns high-scoring talent such as Kahlen Lamarche. The University of Maine, led by head coach Alex Gettens in his official coaching debut, features returning players including goaltender Kiia Lahtinen and top scorer Isabelle Michaud. Quinnipiac completed a weekend sweep of the Maine Black Bears to open the season. The Bobcats secured a 2-1 victory on Friday followed by a 4-1 win on Saturday. During the second game, Alex Law scored her second goal of the season, with additional goals from Aynsley D'Ottavio, Rosalie Breton, and an empty-net goal by Kahlen Lamarche. Goaltender Casey Clausen recorded 22 saves to earn the sweep. This victory extends Quinnipiac’s winning streak against Maine to 12 consecutive meetings. The series served as the first regular-season games for Alex Gettens in his new role as Maine head coach.
