The dispute between InPost founder Rafał Brzoska and Meta has escalated into formal regulatory action. Polish Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski has requested that the European Commission fine Meta 250 million euros, citing the company’s inadequate response to fraudulent advertisements. This request follows testing by CERT Polska, which identified 122 fake advertisements; according to the minister, Meta declined to remove 106 of these cases, an 86.8 percent failure rate. Gawkowski accused Meta of failing to provide an effective response to scams and suggested the company may be profiting from fraudulent content. He has expressed intentions to urge other EU leaders to join collective legal action. In response, Meta stated it removed 380,000 fraudulent items from Poland between July 2025 and June 2026 and aims to have 90 percent of its advertising revenue come from verified entities by the end of 2026. Brzoska has criticized Meta, claiming the company earns approximately 20 million PLN daily from scams in Poland. To combat this, Brzoska has partnered with Sebastian Kondracki of Bielik.AI to launch ‘ScamWatch’, an AI-driven tool designed to monitor illegal advertisements, report them to platforms, and track response times. This effort is part of the ‘150% stop scam’ initiative, which proposes that platforms be fined 150% of the revenue earned from fraudulent ads. The initiative includes a petition to reform platform responsibility rules, which has gathered over 91,000 nearly 100,000 signatures. Public figure Małgorzata Rozenek has also voiced support for the campaign, noting that digital security is a critical concern for all users.
