The historical crime drama series ‘La legge di Lidia Poët’ debuted on the Italian television network Rai 1. Originally a Netflix production filmed in the Piedmont region, the series depicts the life of Lidia Poët, the first woman admitted to the Italian Bar Association, as she fights legal discrimination in late 19th-century Turin. Following its premiere on September 1, the broadcast has faced viewership challenges. The initial episode recorded an 11.2% audience share, totaling 1,549,000 viewers, which was noted as being lower than competing programming on other platforms. The six-episode series, starring Matilda De Angelis, was originally produced for Netflix in 2023 at a cost of approximately 13.3 million euros. As the broadcast progressed, viewership continued to struggle. The third and fourth episodes averaged approximately 1.5 million viewers with a 9.9% share, failing to meet the flagship network’s objectives. Analysts suggest the decline is due to a mismatch in consumption timing, as the gap between the series’ 2023 streaming availability and its delayed free-to-air broadcast has negatively impacted Auditel ratings. Consequently, Rai has moved the final two episodes of the first season from Rai 1 to Rai 3.
