Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja achieved significant milestones during the first Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle. Jadeja became only the fifth Indian bowler to reach 350 Test wickets, joining Anil Kumble, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kapil Dev, and Harbhajan Singh. In addition to his bowling success, Jadeja surpassed 4,000 Test runs, making him one of only four players globally to achieve the combination of 4,000 runs and 350 wickets, alongside Kapil Dev, Ian Botham, and Daniel Vettori. He is noted as the only player in that group to reach these figures in fewer than 100 Test matches. During the third day of the match, Jadeja claimed his 350th wicket by dismissing Sri Lankan batter Keshara Nuwantha, after the ball struck fielder Yashasvi Jaiswal and was caught by Shubman Gill. At the time of this milestone, Jadeja had amassed 4,108 runs and 350 wickets in 90 Test matches. Following these performances, former England batter Geoffrey Boycott named Jadeja his favourite present-day cricketer, praising his impact on the game.
