RCD Mallorca has engaged in several defensive roster changes during the summer transfer period. In early August, the club sent 19-year-old central defender Javier Olaizola on loan to Segunda División side CD Eldense to provide him with more playing time. By the end of the month, Mallorca moved to strengthen its own defensive options by acquiring defender John Chetauya on loan from Elche CF. Chetauya, a versatile player capable of playing as a right-back or center-back, joined the club to seek regular playing time after falling out of favor at Elche. On August 31, the club confirmed that the loan agreement for the 25-year-old Chetauya includes an option to purchase at the end of the season. Chetauya, who can also play as a defensive midfielder or full-back, expressed enthusiasm about joining the squad and helping the team return to its rightful division. In a simultaneous move, Mallorca saw a departure from its defensive line as Girona FC signed right-back Mateu Morey. The 26-year-old has committed to a two-year contract with Girona lasting until June 2028. As the transfer market closed, Elche CF—the club from which Chetauya was loaned—finalized its own squad restructuring. This included the signing of Argentine defender Kevin Lomónaco from Independiente and the loan of French midfielder Thomas Lemar from Atlético de Madrid. Elche also saw the departure of central defender David Affengruber to Fulham for approximately 12 million euros. Following the window, Elche's General Director Pedro Schinocca stated the squad is balanced and aligned with summer planning, though the club remains active in the free agent market to strengthen goalkeeper and forward positions.
