RCMP enforcement actions and provincial drug busts in Canada
In mid‑July 2026 the RCMP launched a series of coordinated operations across several provinces. In British Columbia, officers investigated break‑ins at three downtown businesses in Campbell River, releasing surveillance images and urging the public to help identify the two suspects. In Manitoba, three Winnipeg residents were arrested after retail thefts in Steinbach, where a police‑deployed drone tracked the suspects and recovered more than $3,000 in stolen merchandise. The following week the force highlighted two further British Columbia actions. A traffic stop in Penticton led to the arrest of Samuel Prescott‑Perrault on unlawful firearm possession and probation violations. In Maple Ridge, a separate stop resulted in the seizure of a vehicle, cash, a rifle scope and fentanyl, all turned over for forfeiture. Later in July, RCMP raids seized large drug shipments. A July 9 search in Campbell River uncovered 4.5 kg of cannabis, 225 g of cocaine, 10 g of crack and over $77,000 in cash. Simultaneous July 30 raids in Calgary and Cochrane recovered more than one kilogram of suspected cocaine, about 340 g of fentanyl, $22,000 in currency and prohibited tasers. The arrests and seizures underscore the RCMP’s ongoing emphasis on disrupting property crime, illegal firearms and drug trafficking nationwide. On August 6, the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team, working with the Edmonton and Calgary police services and the RCMP, announced a province‑wide bust that spanned Calgary, Edmonton, St. Albert and Sturgeon County. The operation seized over 66 kg of cocaine, 5 kg each of fentanyl, methamphetamine and psilocybin mushrooms—valued at more than $7 million—along with $1.16 million in cash, 17 firearms and eight vehicles. Several suspects have been arrested, and the investigation, begun in November 2025, remains ongoing.
