Real Housewives franchise expansion

Overview

The ‘Real Housewives’ reality television franchise is expanding its global presence through new series and returning installments. In the United States, Bravo is launching ‘The Real Housewives of Rhode Island’ on September 9, featuring a cast including Alicia Carmody and Rosie DiMare.

‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ premiered its seventh season on September 16. The new season follows cast members navigating changing friendships and the death of Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Jr., in February 2026. Personal transitions are a major theme: Angie Katsanevas has addressed her separation from husband Shawn Trujillo after 27 years, and Bronwyn Newport has faced scrutiny regarding a potential romance with NYC restaurateur Justin Sievers.

On-screen drama remains high. Whitney Rose has teased that her personal storyline will provide the ‘biggest shock’ of the season following challenges with her marriage and business. Interpersonal friction has escalated, including Bronwyn Newport’s emotional outbursts and a confrontation where she expelled Meredith Marks and Lisa Barlow from a disco-themed party following a provocative diss track.

Discussions also continue regarding past incidents involving former cast member Jen Shah. Shah has indicated intentions to address claims made by Heather Gay concerning a black eye Gay sustained during a season three trip to San Diego. Gay previously alleged that Shah was responsible for the injury, an accusation Shah’s representatives denied during her incarceration. The matter has drawn criticism from former producer Patrick McDonald, who questioned Gay’s credibility, and Meredith Marks, who accused Gay of lying about the incident.
