Real Madrid is preparing to host Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu for a ninth-round La Liga fixture. The match is a critical opportunity for the club to attempt to close a nine-point gap with league leaders FC Barcelona ahead of the upcoming Clásico. Manager José Mourinho continues to navigate significant personnel challenges. Vinícius Júnior remains serving a four-match suspension following a red card against Villarreal. Mourinho has defended the player, suggesting that if he were in Vinícius’s position, he might have “forced an exit to a league, a country... where rival clubs and stadiums respect him,” citing the hostility the player has faced. The suspension provides an opportunity to test tactical shifts, with Yan Diomande potentially serving as a replacement. While Éder Militão is returning to the squad following a six-month absence due to a hamstring injury, the team faces further absences. ~~Rodrygo and~~ Rodrygo, Raúl ~~Asencio~~ Asencio, and Ferland Mendy are unavailable due to injury. To address these gaps, Mourinho may implement tactical adjustments, with players such as Arda Güler and ~~Yan Diomande potentially seeing~~ Endrick expected to see increased roles following a recent Champions League comeback against AS Roma.
