The record-breaking winning streak of the all-female trio Le Pappardelle on the Italian quiz show Reazione a Catena ended on September 20, 2026. The Florentine group, consisting of friends Carolina, Francesca, and Maria Giulia, was defeated by a new team named ‘Nonno Rock’, a trio of university students from Gravina in Puglia. Le Pappardelle had maintained their championship status for 48 consecutive episodes since their debut on August 3. During their two-month tenure, the trio set a record by correctly guessing 29 ‘last words’ and accumulated total winnings of approximately 266,000 euros. The members, who have been friends since elementary school, are now returning to their daily lives in Florence, where they work in theater and volunteering. Following their elimination, the members ~~of Le Pappardelle~~ shared an emotional message on social media, thanking the production team and host Pino Insegno, stating that the experience would ‘remain forever in our hearts’. However, the group also announced intentions to pursue legal action against individuals who targeted them with online harassment. They cited instances of insults and unfounded insinuations regarding their relationship with the show’s production staff, asserting that such comments ~~have~~ crossed the line from opinion into illegality. While the group noted they respect freedom of opinion, they maintained that certain social media comments regarding favoritism and personal conduct had breached legal boundaries.
