The Indonesian horror-comedy film ‘Ghost in the Cell’, directed by Joko Anwar, has received significant critical acclaim during its international rollout. The film, which follows prisoners facing a supernatural predator, won the Best Picture award in the Horror Competition category at Fantastic Fest 2026 in Austin, Texas. Following its United States theatrical release on October 2, 2026, the film achieved a 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 22 critic reviews. The production, which previously premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, has secured distribution rights in 148 countries. An Indonesian-South Korean co-production, the film is scheduled for a digital release on October 27. Well Go USA Entertainment will manage the home entertainment distribution, with a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray combo pack set to become available on November 17. The film features an ensemble cast including Abimana Aryasatya, Bront Palarae, Arswendy Bening Swara, Aming Sugandhi, Dimas Danang Suryonegoro, and Almanzo Konoralma.
