Various recreational and inclusive 5K running events were held across different regions in Mexico during August and September 2026. In late August, Zinacantepec hosted an inaugural inclusive 5km race as part of a gastronomic festival, featuring categories for wheelchair users and pets. Concurrently, Xalapa held its eighth ‘Social Running’ event, which saw over 8,000 participants aiming to promote healthy lifestyles and celebrate Youth Month. In Saltillo, the first ‘Runteño 5K’ was organized with a cowboy theme, integrating physical activity with regional music and festivities. Saltillo also hosted the ‘5K Unidos por la Seguridad’ to emphasize community safety and regional identity. In early September, Monclova hosted the seventh Industrial 5km Race organized by Canacintra, focusing on workplace safety and community cohesion for workers and their families. Additional community events in late August included the ‘Corre por las Juventudes’ race in San Andrés Cholula, which drew approximately 2,000 runners for 3, 5, and 10-kilometer distances to commemorate International Youth Day. In Guadalajara, the 22nd International Comude and Firefighters 10K attracted over 10,000 runners to honor National Firefighters Day. Other regional activities included the CarneMart 2026 race in Chihuahua and a cycling crusade in Ciudad Juárez. Further details regarding the Zinacantepec inclusive race indicate that more than 1,500 participants gathered for the event. Organized by the municipal administration in coordination with the Municipal Institute of Physical Culture and Sport of Zinacantepec (IMCUFIDEZ), the race included categories for children, youth, adults, and people with disabilities to promote social inclusion. Local athletes from Zinacantepec secured several top positions in the competition.
