Regional development in Kurdistan and Kermanshah religious initiatives in Iran
In early October 2026, Iranian officials in Kurdistan and Kermanshah focused on the National Housing Movement to support low-income households and stimulate local economies. In Kurdistan, authorities identified the movement as a driver for economic growth intended to activate the construction supply chain and increase employment. In Kermanshah, officials announced plans for rental housing schemes targeting specific income deciles, with the goal of increasing the provincial housing reserve. Later in the month, regional discussions expanded to include broader infrastructure and social initiatives. In Kermanshah, religious leaders called for the practical implementation of Quranic education programs in cities and villages. Meanwhile, in Kurdistan, legislative efforts focused on improving rural road infrastructure in Sanandaj, Divandarreh, and Kamyaran to enhance social connectivity and economic development. On October 24, religious leaders in Kermanshah emphasized the need for the practical implementation of Quranic education. During a meeting of the Coordination Council for the Expansion of Quranic Activities, Hajibullah Ghafouri, the Imam of Jumu'ah in Kermanshah, called for a “significant leap in practical implementation,” noting that plans are ineffective if they do not reach cities and villages. The council aims to transform mosques into active centers for Quranic education to achieve long-term social and religious goals.
