Educational initiatives in Chile have focused on providing financial support and fostering civic and cultural engagement among students. In remote communes such as Ollagüe and Guaitecas, scholarship programs were implemented to reduce barriers for secondary and higher-education students. In Ollagüe, the 2026 Maintenance Scholarship Program allocated 85 million Chilean pesos to support over 300 students based on social need and academic performance. In Guaitecas, a partnership between the municipality and AquaChile provided excellence scholarships to assist students studying away from the island of Melinka. Other regional efforts have emphasized student participation in governance and local culture. In Collipulli, students participated in the Delibera contest, developing legislative proposals regarding mental health, environmental education, and artificial intelligence regulation. Additionally, in In Quirihue, a new the “Letras de la Tierra de los Vientos” reading plan was launched to integrate local authors, poets, and musicians into the school curriculum to strengthen ties between learning and regional cultural heritage. Further regional developments include the “Lecturas al Aire” literary workshop in Villarrica, where young creators present original works and audio capsules. Additionally, an astronomy education congress was held in Antofagasta to provide teachers with updates on the “Earth and Universe” curriculum.
