Various regional festivals, community markets, and traditional Kirchweih celebrations are scheduled across Germany for late August and September 2026. In the Lüneburger Heide, the Naturschutzpark Lüneburger Heide (VNP) is hosting its 12th Hoffest at the Tütsberg landscape management farm, featuring livestock demonstrations, historical machinery, and agricultural crafts. The Havelländer Erntefest in Paaren im Glien will also celebrate rural traditions with harvest parades and regional specialties. Urban and community festivals include the Magnifest in Braunschweig, the Lützeler Bürgerfest in Koblenz, the KlimBim flea market in Magdeburg, the Breitenbachhof festival in Bremen, and the Hardenberg Open-Air event in Velbert. Specialized events include the Naturerlebnistag at the Leipzig School Biology Center, falconry demonstrations at Tierpark Nordhorn, and the Genuss & PS weekend in Zeitz. Kirchweih and regional traditions continue to expand through September. In Bavaria, the Ägidikirwa in Aschach (August 29–31) features the manual raising of the Kirwabaum, while the Altstädter Kerwa in Bayreuth (September 16–21) will offer Franconian cuisine and live music. Other notable celebrations include the Lindenkirchweih in Limmersdorf, featuring dancing on a 300-year-old lime tree, and festivities in Langfurth (August 27–31) marked by a ceremonial beer barrel tapping. In September, Hollfeld will host a ‘Wirtshausroulette’ with rotating bands, and Freudenberg will hold its Kirwa celebration from September 12 to 14. Additional Kirchweih or Kärwa celebrations are planned in Fürth, where the Sack district will host festivities featuring a beer tapping ceremony and the raising of a Kärwabaum, and the Eigenes Heim district will hold lantern and torch processions. In Trautmannshofen, the Kirchweih is expected to attract thousands of visitors with a large market of over 100 vendors and community programs. ~~Other notable events include the Karlsruhe Oktoberfest, starting September 26, and the Barthelmarkt in Oberstimm, which expects approximately 200,000 visitors.~~ New local Kerwe festivals are scheduled for September.
