Recent reports indicate a rise in seasonal accidents across Poland due to changing autumn conditions. In the Tatra Mountains, high-altitude trails remain covered in dangerous, frozen snow, creating hazards despite sunny weather at lower elevations. A series of serious incidents occurred over a weekend, including a fatality near Zawrat and a critical injury near Kozia Przełęcz. TOPR rescuers also conducted multiple interventions involving falls in the Kulczyński Gorge and evacuations on Rysy and Świnica. Rescuers have issued warnings that sunny weather at lower elevations can create a false sense of security, as high-altitude conditions remain dangerous with frozen snow and steep, icy slopes. They emphasized that crampons alone are insufficient for high-mountain terrain and urged hikers to carry proper winter equipment. Road safety has also seen a decline. In Silesia, police reported 41 accidents during the first eight days of autumn, resulting in four deaths and 47 injuries. Officials noted that good visibility and dry surfaces may lead to driver complacency, alongside an increase in pedestrian accidents near crossings. Authorities have advised the use of reflective elements to improve visibility during shorter autumn days. Additionally, a three-car collision on road DW577 in Brzozowie required intervention from multiple fire departments. In the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region, emergency services performed resuscitation on a paraglider who fell into the Vistula River near Grudziądz and was transported to a hospital without vital signs.
