Regional New South Wales community events

Overview

Regional New South Wales experienced a series of cultural, community, and seasonal events throughout late September and early October 2026.

In late September, the Illawarra and surrounding areas hosted various exhibitions and festivals. These included the 21st biennial Meroogal Women’s Art Prize Exhibition in Nowra, the River of Art Prize in Moruya, and the Tallong Apple Day Festival. Performing arts were also featured via a production of ‘Disney’s Frozen – The Broadway Musical’ in Queanbeyan.

Moving into the first week of October, the focus shifted to the Southern Highlands and other regional hubs. Events included the Horizontal Festival in Bowral, featuring boutique producers and culinary demonstrations, and the Yours and Owls Festival in Wollongong. Other activities included the Lilac City Festival in Goulburn, an underwater life exhibition at the Batemans Bay Heritage Museum, and various school holiday programs hosted by local PCYC centers.
