Regional sports initiatives in Italy
Overview
Various regional sports programs are being launched across Italy, focusing on diverse athletic disciplines and social objectives.
In the Salerno province, new women’s padel and football initiatives have commenced, including the Fitp-Tpra winter padel circuit and the entry of the Invicta Women football team into the Eccellenza championship.
Other regional developments include the upcoming 51st Tigullio Winter Championship offshore sailing event and efforts to expand rugby. In Crema, an inclusive touch rugby event aims to foster social inclusion for youth with disabilities, while in Civita Castellana, local authorities plan to introduce rugby into schools to promote community aggregation and social growth.
In the professional rugby sector, Valorugby Emilia secured a 47-19 victory against Lyons Piacenza during the second round of the Serie A Elite championship at Mirabello stadium. The reigning Italian champions scored seven tries, with Francesco Colombo earning Player of the Match honors after scoring two tries. This win moves Valorugby to second place in the standings, trailing only Rovigo.
