The film ‘Digger’, directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu and produced by Warner Bros., is preparing for release. The production stars Tom Cruise as Digger Rockwell, an eccentric and powerful businessman attempting to save humanity after his industrial empire causes a potential global catastrophe. The film features a cast including Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Jesse Plemons, and was filmed entirely in VistaVision. Described as a ‘comedy of catastrophic proportions’, the film’s release schedule includes a world premiere at a Royal Film Performance gala in London on September 22. Following the Venice Film Festival, release dates have been noted for early October, with international cinema and IMAX releases scheduled for late September and October 1. Promotion for the film will extend to Japan, where Tom Cruise and Iñárritu are scheduled to visit from October 5 to October 7. This visit coincides with ‘Tom Day’ on October 6, a Japanese anniversary celebrating the actor. To mark the occasion, a red carpet premiere and screening will be held, supplemented by one-night-only advance screenings at 355 theaters across the country. The film is set for release in Japan on October 9. In a recent interview with GQ, Tom Cruise described his role as an oil tycoon as ‘the most intense professional challenge of his career’ and the ‘peak of his acting abilities’. He noted that the project represents a departure from his typical action franchises.
