Prime Video released a teaser and poster for the Italian original film ‘Il Ministero dell’Amore’, a surreal romantic comedy directed by Giacomo Ciarrapico and Luca Vendruscolo. The film, based on the 2013 play ‘Stare meglio oggi’, follows a parliamentary reporter whose romantic life is managed by a metaphorical ‘Council of Ministers’ inside his head. Following the initial teaser, the film premiered in the Grand Public section of the 21st Rome Film Festival. The story centers on Aldo, a parliamentary journalist played by Pif, who faces a romantic crisis treated as an institutional government crisis. Within his mind, a surreal government composed of characters played by Corrado Guzzanti, Pietro Sermonti, and Angela Finocchiaro manages his emotional life through a system featuring a parliament, an opposition, and public opinion. During the press conference, the cast discussed the film’s satirical elements and its connection to Italian politics. The production utilizes a 1970s-style governmental aesthetic to mirror the perceived bureaucracy and slowness of Italian politics, while also addressing themes of age and the challenges of maintaining happiness after fifty. The film is scheduled for an exclusive worldwide release on Prime Video on December 18. 18, 2026.
