The second season of the Italian television drama ‘Libera – Il caso Elena Palma’ premiered on Rai 1 and RaiPlay on Sunday, October 25, 2026. In this new season, Lunetta Savino reprises her role as Libera Orlando, who has been promoted to president of the criminal section of the Trieste court. The narrative follows Libera as she manages increased professional duties alongside complex family dynamics. Central to the plot is the trial of Omar Alami, a rapper accused of the femicide of Elena Palma. While evidence against him appears overwhelming, Libera identifies inconsistencies that prompt her to seek a deeper truth. Matteo Martari returns as Pietro Zanon, who assists in the investigation while navigating personal challenges with his daughter, Clara, and his relationship with a key witness, Nina De Angelis. The season, consisting of six episodes, also introduces Cesare Scuderi, a magistrate from Palermo and an old acquaintance of Libera, whose secret investigation intersects with the central case. Directed by Gianluca Mazzella and produced by 11 marzo Film in collaboration with Rai Fiction, the series was filmed in Trieste and Muggia, utilizing local landmarks such as the Court of Justice and Palazzo Carciotti. The season premiere achieved significant viewership, drawing approximately 2.6 million viewers with a 16.9% share, securing the prime-time victory for Rai 1.
