The production team for the Malayalam revenge thriller ‘Khalifa’, directed by Vysakh and starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, has released further character details regarding ahead of its release. New cast additions include Shine Varghese as Sudhip, Shammi Thilakan as Raghavan, and plot. Master Nafash as Rushin. The film follows a character named plot centers on Aamir Ali and involves a multi-million dollar gold smuggling racket spanning the Middle East, London, Nepal, and Kerala. Following the reveal of various character details, the film has received a UA 16+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. The production, which filmed sequences in Dubai and concluded shooting in June, is scheduled for theatrical release on August 20, 2026, as a major Onam festival release. There are also indications of a potential prequel that would feature actor Mohanlal in a full-length role. Recent updates confirm that Mohanlal will appear in a cameo role as Mambarakkal Ahmed Ali. The cast also includes Malvika Sharma in the female lead, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anand Manmadhan as Rahim, Mohini, Kyraa Vasudevan, and Shammi Thilakan. Abhraham and Suraj Kumar under the Jiinu Abraham Innovation banner. ‘Khalifa’ was released in theaters on August 20, 2026. Early audience reactions on social media have been mixed; while the film is noted for Prithviraj Sukumaran’s star power, some viewers have criticized the pacing and screenplay, noting that the first half may feel too long. The production features Neil Nitin Mukesh in his Malayalam film debut, along with Indrans and Sanju Sivaram.
