Paramount Pictures and Skydance Sports have released a trailer for ‘Mr. Irrelevant’, a biographical sports drama starring David Corenswet. Directed by Jonathan Levine, the film depicts the true story of John Tuggle, the final player selected in the 1983 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. The narrative follows Tuggle’s perseverance on the field and his personal battle with cancer, which ended his career in 1986. To prepare for the role, Corenswet has undergone a physical transformation to capture an ‘80s athlete aesthetic, aesthetic. He has distinguished the training for this role from his preparation for the ‘Superman’ film; while the latter focused on strength and stunt work, ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ required professional athlete conditioning, including a muscular build heavy sprinting and functional training. Corenswet noted that this specific hair regimen resulted in him suffering from shin splints and makeup styling. Because the film portrays Tuggle’s cancer diagnosis, involved working with a middle-school football coach to understand the production sport. The film, which stars Corenswet alongside Isabel May and Michael Shannon, utilizes wigs to depict the character’s hair loss. The film loss following his cancer diagnosis. It is scheduled for a wide theatrical release on December 25, 2026.
