Prime Video announced ‘Masterplan’, its first original French-Italian film, which follows a retired thief attempting to steal the Mona Lisa from the Louvre. Directed by Thomas Vincent and produced in partnership with Gaumont, the crime comedy thriller stars Stanley Tucci, Simona Tabasco, and Victor Belmondo. The film’s plot centers on dysfunctional family dynamics, as the protagonist recruits an Italian cybercrime expert and a French demolitions specialist, only to reveal he is their father. Filming took place in late 2025 across Paris, Rome, and Como. On October 16, 2026, the film premiered exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories. The production, co-produced by Amazon MGM Studios, features English dialogue. Following the premiere, details emerged regarding the character dynamics: Stanley Tucci plays Roger, a legendary thief who recruits Chiara (Simona Tabasco), an Italian cybercrime expert, and Jay (Victor Belmondo), a French explosives expert. The recruits discover they are long-lost siblings and that Roger is their biological father, a fact supported by a DNA test. ~~While reviews have varied regarding~~ By October 20, 2026, ‘Masterplan’ emerged as one of the ~~film’s execution and dialogue,~~ most popular titles on Prime Video, reaching the ~~production is noted for its high-end aesthetic and its mix of English, French, and Italian.~~ third most popular spot on the platform despite what has been described as “minimal promotion” from the streaming service.
