Star Wars Zero Company is a single-player, turn-based tactical strategy game set during the twilight of the Clone Wars. Developed by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, the game was released on August 27, 2026. Players control Hawks, a disgraced former Republic officer leading a mercenary squad known as Zero Company, which includes deserter clones, smugglers, and Force users. The gameplay utilizes Unreal Engine 5 to emphasize tactical combat involving cover, line of sight, and resource management at a base called ‘The Den’. The title features permadeath mechanics and deep character relationships. Narrative elements involve the crew’s struggle against a mysterious cult called the Coil, which is spreading a phenomenon known as the Shadow Plague. The central plot involves the group attempting to survive financially while undertaking a mission to hunt Kundri Fathom, the leader of the Separatist organization known as the Infinite Coil. Following the game's conclusion, the characters find themselves as outlaws wanted by the Empire. While the combat mechanics are inspired by the XCOM series, the game focuses on character-driven storytelling where interpersonal bonds can provide mechanical benefits to abilities. Despite the game's narrative potential for future installments involving the nascent Rebellion, the future of the developer Bit Reactor remains uncertain following staff furloughs.
