The FX mystery series ‘The Lowdown,’ created by Sterlin Harjo, has premiered its second season on FX and Hulu. October 14, 2026. The eight-episode Southern noir, described as a ‘spaced-out Raymond Chandler’ style drama, follows Lee Raybon, a journalist and ‘truthstorian’ played by Ethan Hawke. Following an investigative exposé in the first season, the new season begins with Raybon receiving a journalism award. His erratic acceptance speech draws the attention of public defender Ginger Lafferty, played by Betty Gilpin, who enlists his help regarding a mystery involving a missing client she represented. The season also introduces family conflict with the arrival of Lee Raybon Sr., played by Tommy Lee Jones. Described as a lifelong grifter, the character arrives in town after a 20-year estrangement from his son. While appearing confused upon arrival, the character is noted by actors to be more calculated than he initially seems. In the United States, episodes air Wednesdays on FX and stream on Hulu and Disney+. In France, the series is scheduled to arrive on Disney+ via the Star section starting October 15, 2026, following a weekly release schedule. Series creator Sterlin Harjo stated that the objective for the second season was to ‘elevate the stakes and expand the world’ by introducing new characters to build upon the series' foundation.
