The fantasy folklore film ‘The Vvaan: Force of the Forest’, directed by Deepak Kumar Misra and Arunabh Kumar, was released on September 25, 2026. Starring Siddharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, the film is a collaboration between Balaji Motion Pictures, TVF, and 11. 11 Production. The narrative centers on Rishi, an atheist builder, and his devout wife Mamta, as they return to a village to resolve a land dispute, eventually confronting supernatural forces linked to the Van Devi temple in Bihta, Bihar. Critical reception has been mixed. While some reviewers focus on the film’s exploration of faith versus modernization, others have criticized the execution for having a “wayward narrative” and relying on “cliches” or “repetitive supernatural tropes.” Despite mixed reviews, the film has demonstrated strong box office performance. After opening with an estimated net collection of Rs 8 crore, earnings rose to Rs 10.25 crore on its second day, bringing the two-day total to approximately Rs 18.37 crore. By the end of its fourth day, the film reached an India net collection of approximately ₹39 crore, surpassing the lifetime collection of Malhotra’s previous film, ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’. During its second week, the film’s momentum was aided by a Gandhi Jayanti holiday and a buy-one-get-one ticket offer, earning Rs 3.25 crore on its second Friday. This brought Friday, bringing its total India net collection to approximately Rs 58.11 crore. While categorized as a success, the film faces competition from Ajay Devgn’s ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’, which opened with an estimated Rs 61-62 crore nett. Actress Tamannaah Bhatia recently discussed the production challenges, noting she felt ‘terrified’ during an underwater sequence for the song ‘Chhathi Maiya’ because she is a non-swimmer. She underwent specialized training for the scene and credited co-star Malhotra, a deep-sea diver, for his support.
