Release and reception box office performance of ‘Tu Hai Meri Kiran’

The promotional campaign for the romantic thriller ‘Tu Hai Meri Kiran’ culminated in its theatrical release on 23 October 2026. Starring real-life couple Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal, the film marks the feature directorial debut of Karan Rawal and is produced by Vishal Rana under Echelon Productions. Prior to its release, the film’s debut was threatened by a legal dispute in the Bombay High Court. Co-producer And Movie Products LLP filed a petition claiming an unpaid investment of 8.85 crore rupees following a bounced payment check. On 19 October, the court ordered Echelon Productions to repay the amount plus 15 percent interest. Producers Vishal Rana and Sarvesh Goyal later confirmed the matter was settled through discussions, allowing the scheduled release to proceed. Following the release of its trailer, which teased a narrative of one-sided love and dangerous obsession, further details emerged regarding the film’s plot. The story follows Kiran, a writer in Mussoorie, who discovers an old flip phone that establishes a mysterious connection to a man named Samar. This premise utilizes a supernatural or sci-fi element to drive the psychological thriller. Upon release, the film received mixed critical attention. While noted for its technical competence and ability to maintain tension, critics raised concerns regarding its controversial subject matter. Specifically, reviewers found the narrative’s attempt to humanize Samar’s toxic and stalking behaviors to be troubling. The film’s concept reportedly draws inspiration from a Korean series. Following its release, the film has struggled commercially at the Indian box office. It recorded a weak opening, collecting a total of Rs 34 lakh net across its first three days. Reports indicate that the low turnout leaves the production with little margin for recovery, as projected lifetime collections may struggle to cover basic production costs.
