Remita, a payment technology company, announced plans to launch a new mobile application for individual consumers and small businesses during the 2026 Nigeria Fintech Week. Managing director DeRemi Atanda indicated the move was intended to shift the company’s focus from institutional services toward consumer-facing offerings as the Nigerian fintech industry matures. Following the event in Lagos, Remita officially launched the application, marking its entry into the consumer and retail market. The platform is designed to aggregate multiple financial services into a single interface to address operational fragmentation. Features include multi-bank account management, local and pan-African transfers, utility bill settlements, stock investments, a retail credit marketplace, micro-pensions, and ticket purchasing. Adedayo Adewale, Head of Remita Consumer and Retail Business, noted that the product aims to address the operational fragmentation experienced by banking customers who currently navigate various separate apps for different financial needs. To assist with personal finance, the app includes budgeting and expense tracking tools supported by artificial intelligence. Additionally, Remita is leveraging a partnership with the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS) to facilitate cross-border payments across Africa.
