Retail expansion is progressing in Lima, Peru, led by significant investments in the outlet and supermarket sectors. Mallplaza has inaugurated its first Premium Outlets in Peru at the Atocongo site in San Juan de Miraflores. Developed through the transformation of the former Open Plaza Atocongo, the 37,500 square meter facility involved a US$ 6.1 million investment. The outlet features over 30 brands, including Adidas, Puma, Skechers, and GAP Factory, as well as anchor stores like Sodimac, Tottus, and the country’s only Falabella outlet. This project is part of a broader US$ 200 million expansion plan by the Chilean operator scheduled through 2028. Building on the Atocongo launch, Mallplaza is planning a second premium outlet at Open Plaza La Marina. This upcoming project aims to serve the San Miguel and Callao areas and is expected to add approximately 18,000 square meters of leasable area. Rafael Jaramillo, manager of Mallplaza’s Peru Division, confirmed the project is currently in the planning stage. The initiative seeks to capture consumer segments looking for recognized national and international brands at more accessible prices, though specific investment figures and an opening timeline for La Marina have not yet been finalized. Simultaneously, Supermercados Holi is increasing its footprint in the capital, having opened its 14th store in Miraflores on Av. El Ejército. This move is part of a 2026 strategy that has already included five new locations, with the chain utilizing digital tools, such as the ‘Best Price’ system and loyalty apps, to support further expansion into other Lima districts and regional provinces.
