The Canadian federal government has announced the retirement of the CT-114 Tutor jets used by the Snowbirds air demonstration squadron. The aircraft are slated to be replaced by tuboprop-driven CT-157 ~~Sisken~~ Siskin IIs, though the squadron will remain grounded during the transition period, which is expected to last until the early 2030s. Following this announcement, it was confirmed that the 431 Air Demonstration Squadron will perform its final flight using the CT-114 Tutor at the 113th Grey Cup in Calgary on November 15, 2026. This event marks the conclusion of the aircraft's service with the team, which has utilized the Tutor for aerial demonstrations since 1971. As the 2026 season progresses, the squadron is scheduled to feature the classic aircraft for the final time at the Canadian International Air Show during the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto. Major-General Denis O’Reilly, deputy commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force, stated that the retirement “honors the generations of personnel who made the team a symbol of Canadian excellence.”
