The Liga Independente das Escolas de Samba (Liesa) confirmed the Noite dos Enredos for 7 August 2027 at the Cidade do Samba, with free public entry and a food‑donation requirement. The evening will open with Samba Que Elas Querem and preview the enredos selected by the twelve Special Group schools. Portela will honour mestre Monarco; Unidos do Peruche will revive “Filhos de Mãe Preta”; and São Clemente named Annik Salmon as its sole female carnavalesca for the Série Ouro parade. Ticket pre‑sale began 7 August 2026, with general sale on 10 August via Ticketmaster. New announcements have expanded the roster of 2027 themes and artistic figures. União da Ilha do Governador will commission “Um Amor de Carnaval – Getúlio Marinho,” while Independente da Praça da Bandeira will present “Os Préstitos Engalanados e a Batalha das Ornamentações.” Beija‑Flor will honour indigenous leader Dona Zeneida and Tuiuti will celebrate Tia Ciata; Unidos do Viradouro marked its 80th anniversary. Grande Rio unveiled an African‑heritage storyline “Sankofa Tabon • Os retornados da Costa do Ouro e a Estrela Negra da Liberdade,” complemented by a new bateria plan. Unidos de Vila Isabel named Raissa Machado as its 2027 musa and announced the “Torto Arado” theme. União de Maricá, debuting in the Grupo Especial, will parade “Utopia Brasil: Darcy Ribeiro” with a R$100 000 enredo competition. São Clemente appointed scholar Bianca Behrends as enredista, and Barroca Zona Sul will perform “Elekô Obá Xirê.” The samba‑enredo finals schedule runs from 31 July to 20 September, with each Special Group school assigned a presentation date. The parade order for Série Prata and Série Bronze has also been released. In August 2026, Grande Rio detailed its “Sankofa Tabon” concept, highlighting research on 19th‑century Ghanaian returnees and announcing a strengthened bateria under master Fafá.
