As the first round of the 2026 General Elections approaches on Sunday, October 4, the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) is finalizing logistical and security preparations. Voting is scheduled from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Brasília time. To protect ballot secrecy, the TSE reminds voters that mobile phones and electronic devices are prohibited inside voting booths, recommending the use of written notes for candidate numbers. Social media platforms are mandated to immediately remove content identified as disinformation. Polling continues to show competitive races. In Paraná, Sergio Moro leads the gubernatorial race with 36% in the first round, while Sandro Alex follows with 28%; a second-round simulation shows a technical tie between Moro (41%) and Alex (39%). In Mato Grosso, Otaviano Pivetta leads the gubernatorial race with 46.4%, followed by Wellington Fagundes at 27.1%, while Mauro Mendes holds a 54.9% preference for the Senate. In Alagoas, JHC leads both the gubernatorial race with 48.6% and the Senate race with 45.6%. In Minas Gerais, the Senate race shows a technical tie among four candidates, including Domingos Sávio (PL). Regarding candidate diversity, an updated survey by Diário PcD indicates that 124 candidates focused on disability rights issues remain in the race.
