In July 2026, Riot Games released the Version 1.2.5 patch for its fighting game 2XKO, which included performance improvements, champion nerfs, a Juggernaut fuse rework, and new skin bundles. By August 2026, Riot Games announced that active development of 2XKO would conclude at the end of the year due to insufficient player retention and high operational costs, noting the project was not “financially sustainable despite a passionate core community.” While servers will remain online for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, Riot is implementing an offline mode to ensure long-term playability. Before development ceases in December 2026, Riot will fulfill its remaining roadmap by adding Lux in September and Samira in October, followed by a final bug-fix patch. To support the transition, the company is unlocking all champions for all players and refunding eligible purchases made on or before August 20. The purchase of KO Points has already been disabled. Structural changes will also occur, including the removal of Ranked play, Battle Passes, and seasonal events to streamline matchmaking into casual and private lobbies. Additionally, a $39.99 Ultimate Bundle will be released to package most existing cosmetic content. Competitive tournaments are expected to continue through November 2026.
