In Berlin, artist Simon Weckert has specifically developed a “Digital Camouflage” shirt using a generative AI method called TC-EGA to disrupt outline detection software, aiming to prevent machines from identifying the wearer as a human figure. Weckert’s garment, developed in response to planned AI surveillance at Berlin’s Kottbusser Tor station, utilizes a chaotic pattern of pink, orange, and green shapes. By employing an “adversarial loop” process, the design targets the statistical visual patterns—such as edges, textures, and body silhouettes—that AI systems use to identify humans. In demonstrations, the shirt successfully caused AI detection boxes and “PERSON” labels to disappear from video feeds, effectively making the wearer invisible to the software.
