Dan Stevens has been cast as Alex Murphy in an upcoming eight-episode RoboCop television series for Prime Video. Developed by Amazon MGM Studios, Blumhouse Atomic Monster, and Showrunner Peter Ocko, the series follows a premise where a technology conglomerate integrates a high-powered robot into a city's police force using the consciousness of a fallen officer. Stevens has expressed that the role is a “dream” and indicated a desire to maintain elements from the original 1987 film, such as satire and extreme violence, while exploring contemporary themes of technology, identity, and corporate power. He specifically aims to preserve themes of corporate greed, privatization, and the relationship between humanity and technology. Production is currently in active preparation, with filming expected to begin in the spring of 2027. While a specific release date has not yet been announced, Stevens noted that he has not yet tried on the RoboCop costume but expects to do so soon.
