Rolls-Royce has unveiled the Phantom Hummingbird, a unique, one-off Bespoke model based on the Phantom Series II Extended. Commissioned through the Private Office in Dubai as a tribute to a client’s wife, the vehicle is designed to symbolize joy and resilience. The car features the first use of abalone shell inlay in the brand’s history. Artisans in Goodwood spent nine months developing the technique, using the iridescent blue and green qualities of the shell alongside mother-of-pearl to mimic hummingbird plumage. This intricate process required the creation of six prototypes to master the fragile material. Interior highlights include rear picnic tables featuring hummingbird motifs made from 53 hand-inlaid pieces each, and a rear waterfall panel containing a botanical design composed of 84 elements. ~~The production~~ To ensure a seamless fit, craftsmanship involved laser-cutting pieces to within 0.06mm of their final size before undergoing approximately 45 hours of ~~hand-finishing to manage the fragile materials.~~ hand-finishing.
